HERSHEY'S TROLLY CAR COLLECTABLE TIN
HERSHEY'S TROLLY CAR COLLECTABLE TIN
#3 Trolly
The art depicted on this canister replicates that of the trolleys which began operation in the town of Hershey in 1904. In the early years, Milton S. Hershey used the trolly system to transport milk from the local farms to his chocolate factory in Hershey,PA. During this time, when automobiles were expensive toys for the wealthy, many Hershey Chocolate Factory employees used the trolley to get to work each day. When private auto ownership began to grow in the 1920's, trolly use began to decline. By the end of WWII the trolley had outlived its usefulness for transporting milk, workers and area residents. The Hershey trolleys made their final run in 1946. Today visitors to Hershey can step back in time and travel Chocolatetown by boarding the Hershey Trolley Workds located in Hershey's Chocolate World.
